ABOUT DOEPELGANGER

Doe is a t-shirt brand borne in 2007 from the idea to share friends,and friends’ friends’ art on a t-shirt. Doe has always been intrigued by talented women with a STRONG sense of style combined with a feisty spirit and a year later when the second range was introduced it was this very attitude that we paid homage to. The range was imprinted with work by some of SA’s budding artists and designers alike such as Mafuta Ink (Fuzzy Slippers and Nolan Dennis), Lauren Fowler, Street artists Enos (Berlin) &Yves (Hamburg), and Machine Man (Jake Lipman from Mshiniwam/B Team).

2009 saw the launch of Doe in Johannesburg hosted by DJ Khenzero and Osmic at OST. Doe collaborated with Kudzinai Chiurai to create an exhibition space that could comfortably accommodate our evolved audience. 2010 was a year to take a step back and observe, regroup to be introspective and gear for the next phase. So Doe went travelling to Hong Kong, Beijing, Shang-ri-la, Berlin, Antwerp, Hamburg, Malmo, Paris, and Copenhagen. Doe absorbed the creative arts culture in all of the cities and came back with a new perspective. 2010 ended with Doe designing a pair of kicks for a Puma showcase.

And so Doepelganger.com was born.

Doepelganger.com is a platform for the contemporary arts movement in South Africa.
Powered by Doe, it is a collective of life-lovers inspired by fashion, culture, music, the world today, dreams, friendships, collaboration and sharing, expression in all forms, femininity, masculinity, 2011 and the future.
